Our Kazakhstan Adoption

Hello, We are Joe and Steph - a couple with a young biological son who have made the decision to adopt a child from Kazakhstan. Joe also has a teenage daughter from a previous marriage. Rather than infertility, we are adopting "by choice". We made this decision after much thought and research. There are so many children in the world that need a loving home. We hope this blog will keep our friends/family informed of our progress along the way!

We are on our way soon!

Just received word from our agency that Aktau, a port city on the Caspian Sea, has several children available right now. We have decided to take them up on the offer to travel there blind. Once we decided that, things have happened soooo fast. We learned 2 days ago that we are tenatively leaving on 2/23 (in 2 weeks)! YIKES!
Things have been crazy these last few days. There are so many last minute things to take care of and two weeks just seems like not enough time. I really did not think it would happen so quickly! I guess I thought we were still a month or two away from traveling.
I plan to post on this blog if at all possible while we are there.
Everyone please keep us in your prayers that things will proceed as smoothly as possible. Even more important, please pray for Bryson while we are gone and for us a safe return.
I will update more details on our anticipated leave once things settle down a bit!

Such great news!! Glad to hear your long wait will soon be over. It's funny because we are tentatively scheduled to leave on 2/23 as well. Of course we will be on the other side of the country, but maybe we will be in Almaty at the same time. Hope all goes well and you can travel as planned.

I know you are so excited! I wish you well on your travels. I think it's going to be such an awesome experience going over there blind because you know in your heart that the child you choose is the one God had waiting for you all this time!
