Our Kazakhstan Adoption

Hello, We are Joe and Steph - a couple with a young biological son who have made the decision to adopt a child from Kazakhstan. Joe also has a teenage daughter from a previous marriage. Rather than infertility, we are adopting "by choice". We made this decision after much thought and research. There are so many children in the world that need a loving home. We hope this blog will keep our friends/family informed of our progress along the way!

Still waiting

Well, Friday came and went and we are still here. There were computer/technical problems at the MFA in Astana and visa numbers were not transmitting to the embassy. So, we can't go until we get our visas. It has turned into a day-to-day waiting game. I hope to hear news today. We have flights on hold for this Wednesday and Thursday. If the embassy doesn't have our information today, then we know we will not be going on Wednesday as we have to get the visas via FedEx overnight.
It wasn't such a bad thing that we didn't go on Friday as expected. We got to go to Bryson's first T-ball game on Saturday and we threw together an early birthday party for him yesterday. He really had a blast with his friends.
We are packed and ready - just waiting!
I'll post again as soon as we know more!

We are on our way soon!

Just received word from our agency that Aktau, a port city on the Caspian Sea, has several children available right now. We have decided to take them up on the offer to travel there blind. Once we decided that, things have happened soooo fast. We learned 2 days ago that we are tenatively leaving on 2/23 (in 2 weeks)! YIKES!
Things have been crazy these last few days. There are so many last minute things to take care of and two weeks just seems like not enough time. I really did not think it would happen so quickly! I guess I thought we were still a month or two away from traveling.
I plan to post on this blog if at all possible while we are there.
Everyone please keep us in your prayers that things will proceed as smoothly as possible. Even more important, please pray for Bryson while we are gone and for us a safe return.
I will update more details on our anticipated leave once things settle down a bit!
